The Cowra Regional Art Gallery (CRAG) is a cultural facility of the Cowra Shire Council. The CRAG opened in October 2000 and prides itself as a welcoming, vibrant and progressive public gallery. It offers a dynamic program of exhibitions and public events for the enjoyment of the Cowra community and visitors to the district.
The diverse Gallery program features in-house curated and touring exhibitions of contemporary art and craft practices and social history projects from major museums and art centre’s across the country. The CRAG is also renowned for its annual acquisitive exhibition the Calleen Art Award and youth project upstART.
The CRAG has a diverse permanent collection of artwork including paintings, works on paper, ceramics and photographs. This includes the Calleen Collection and Olive Cotton Collection of photographs. There is also a heritage collection of works by Italian POWs interned at the Cowra POW Camp during WWII.
The Gallery shop offers visitors a unique range of greeting cards ( individual and box sets), art magazines, art books and local history publications plus a range of handcrafted gifts including candles, fashionable bags for all occasions (with Marimekko designs), and unique ceramics, textiles and jewellery.
